Basic Freediver

Why PADI Freediver?

Freediving is about cultivating inner focus, discipline, and control over breath, body, and thoughts. With practice, relaxation fuels your ability to move gracefully and efficiently through the water. If you’ve ever wanted to enter the water quietly and engage with nature on your own terms, without the bulk and noise of equipment, freediving is for you.  You’ll dive deeper, stay down longer, and feel part of the ocean itself.

Freediving can also be a competitive sport.  Divers all around the world train for years to set records in static apnea, dynamic apnea, free immersion and constant weight freediving.

PADI Freediver teaches you about the safety and physiology of freediving, along with techniques to enhance your personal and buddy related safety skills.

What do I need to start?

No prior experience with snorkeling, skin diving, or freediving is required.  To enroll in a PADI Freediver course you must be at least 12 years old.  You need adequate swimming skills and need to be in good physical health.

What will you learn?

The PADI Basic Freediver and Freediver Course help you develop solid freediving skills.  You learn basic freediving principles and focus on practicing breathhold techniques in a pool.  This includes:

  • Learn breathhold techniques as well as static and dynamic apnea.
  • Proper buddy procedures.
  • Goal – static apnea of 90 seconds and dynamic apnea of 80 ft.
  • Learn about equipment designed specifically for freediving.
