A bit about the islands

Today Palau is known as a diver’s paradise. It consists of an archipelago of over 300 islands, many within a barrier reef. Here the reefs have been protected and are some of the most healthy in the world. Visibility is often 100+ ft and water temps are in the low to mid 80’s, making for spectacular diving conditions. Fish populations are healthy and it is very common to see sharks on many sites and there are many manta cleaning stations through out the islands. Palau has a number of the top dive sites in the world including Blue Corner, Ulong Channel, and German Channel. Besides reefs, Palau also has a number of wrecks and has some caverns too.

Boasting a restaurant, 2 bars, a lovely outdoor swimming pool and a spa and wellness center, Palau Royal Resort sits directly on the beachfront. Guests can relax on their private balcony and enjoy stunning views. The restaurant offers free WiFi.

Each air-conditioned room includes a flat-screen TV offering cable channels. All rooms include a refrigerator, a mini-bar and an electric kettle with a range of tea. The private bathroom has a bidet, a hairdryer and comfy slippers. A complimentary pack of toiletries is provided and includes toothpaste and a toothbrush.

Royal Resort Palau is a 3-minute drive from Koror town center, with a variety of restaurants, cafes and shops. Belau National Museum is a 5-minute drive away, and Koror Airport is a 10-minute drive away.

After a busy day, you can relax with a drink at Coral’s Bar or Breeze Beach Bar. Waves Restaurant offers all day dining and serves delicious food including fresh seafood, sizzling US beefs, noodles, pasta, and fresh baked breads and cakes.

Flying in to Palau, you get your first view of just how breathtaking the island landscape is. It’s quite a sight especially when you know you are about to dive there!

Palau sits between the North Pacific Ocean and the Philippine Sea so the marine life is influenced by both. Geographically, the islands are either limestone or volcanic in origin. Nearly all are ringed by reefs with steep walls that are sometimes perforated by caves and tunnels. The variety of dive styles is incredible with wrecks, reefs and caves to explore.

Most scuba diving takes place around the islands to the south of the chain: Koror (the capital), Malakal, (the harbour) and Peleliu island in the far south. The lagoon near Malakal has enough wrecks to give Chuuk (Truk Lagoon) a run for its money but Palau’s major attraction is her pelagic life. Dives like Blue Corner are a magnet for sharks, barracuda, jacks and rays although the currents can be strong.

Famous Jellyfish Lake is in the limestone Rock Islands. Being able to snorkel with literally millions of velvet-soft jellyfish is an unmissable experience.
