Lake Pleasant Regional Park

One of the most scenic water recreation areas in the “Valley of the Sun,” this northwest Valley park is a recreationist’s dream. The park offers many activities, such as camping, boating, fishing, swimming, hiking, picnicking, and wildlife viewing. At the Lake Pleasant Visitor Center, guests learn about the history of the area and desert wildlife. Step out onto the balcony surrounding the Visitor Center to get a beautiful view of Lake Pleasant and an up-close look at Waddell Dam. The breathtaking views offer visitors a great place to relax, whether it is from a boat or shoreline picnic site.

Accommodations

Stay nearby at a local motel or camp at Lake Pleasant

You don’t need a boat on the water to enjoy the lake’s beauty. Camping, and hiking opportunities are in abundance. Campers and picnickers can find both day and overnight campgrounds able to accommodate large and small groups as well as tents and RV parking. At the Roadrunner Campground and Picnic Area there are 72 RV sites with water and electrical hookups. Covered picnic tables, barbecue grills, restroom and shower facilities offer guests all the modern conveniences to make their time even more enjoyable. The Desert Tortoise Campground and Cottonwood Day Use Areas are open daily from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. year round. Arrangements can be made for overnight stays at both of these sites by contacting the park’s Special Events Coordinator.

Scuba Certification

For those of you that want to finish your PADI Open Water certification closer to home, The Dive Shop will now offer a Lake Pleasant option. We will conduct open water dives on Saturday and Sundays from 10 am – 3

Open Water

4 Open Water Certification dives with a PADI Instructor and Divemaster. 2 check out dives on Saturday and 2 on Sunday .  Includes the BCD, Tanks, regulator and weight rental.

Specialty Courses

Closest location to do specialty certifications, when you don’t need to identify marine life.

Directions

From Tucson: Take I-10 to Phoenix then continue onto I-17 (Black Canyon Freeway) north and exit on Carefree Highway (Exit 223) and head west. The road becomes State Route 74, also known as Lake Pleasant Road. Travel west for about 15 miles and turn north on Castle Hot Springs Road. Continue for about 2 miles to the park’s main entrance. To reach Pleasant Harbor Marina, turn north on Pleasant Harbor Road for about 1.5 miles to the main entrance. Nominal fees are charged.
