Epic Adventure aboard the Humboldt Explorer Liveaboard
June 7 - 14, 2027

A UNESCO World Heritage site, Galapagos National Park is a paradise of protected islands bursting with unique marine life found nowhere else on earth. Located on either side of the Equator in the Pacific Ocean, The Galapagos Islands have been an integral part of history and science since Charles Darwin ventured there in 1835. Darwin was on a special voyage to study the unique and endemic species found there. His research led to his widely accepted theory of evolution by natural selection. The extreme isolation of The Galapagos Islands located 1000km from continental Ecuador and the confluence of three ocean currents with ongoing seismic and volcanic activity have together resulted in the development of some very special and unusual animal life.
Diving adventures here encompass everything from aggregating hammerheads and whale sharks, to penguins, marine iguanas, and more. The sheer number of rare species is nothing short of incredible. Plus, at the isolated Wolf and Darwin Islands, you can watch as huge schools of scalloped hammerheads, silky sharks, and tuna float on by. There’s a reason why liveaboard diving in the Galapagos Islands is on every divers’ bucket list.
Your Galapagos Liveaboard diving adventure will encompass everything from sharks to nudibranchs, and more. The islands are best known for amazing shark diving around Wolf and Darwin Islands. These small and remote islands are best reached by liveaboard vessels for divers. For pelagic lovers the Humboldt Explorer spends four days at Darwin and Wolf Island famous for its sharks. Your diving experience here will generally include Galapagos sharks, silky sharks, and lots of schooling hammerheads being cleaned by king angelfish. Seeing marine turtles, schools of tuna, eagle rays, and sea lions are very common, and seeing a whale shark is very possible from June through November.
All the islands you travel to are amazing sites for underwater photography. Macro photographers will have their fill of sea horses, barnacle blennies, coral hawkfish, and many others. An abundance of rays is at many of the dive sites (including spotted rays, marble rays, golden rays, and stingrays) along with sea lions, sea turtles, schools of grunts, and snappers. The variety of life in the water is unlike any other place, with thick schools of the native brown striped Salema, snappers, groupers, Chevron barracuda, and huge sea turtles.
Humboldt Explorer’s itinerary include land tours to see these local creatures: North Seymour Island walking tour; Santa Cruz Highlands tour to see giant tortoises; large colonies of blue-footed boobies and frigate birds, sea lions and marine iguanas; free time to explore the beach town Puerto Ayora.

The 16-passenger MV Humboldt Explorer liveaboard was completely renovated in March 2023 and is a favorite among divers in the Galapagos Islands. The vessel offers eight air-conditioned staterooms located on the main and lower decks; each with a private bathroom, flat-screen television, and ocean view. The yacht features a partially covered sun deck with a hot tub and ample seating, a salon area with dining, a bar, and an entertainment area.
Humboldt Explorer has a large dive deck and includes a bathroom, a large camera table with a charging station, individual storage areas, rinse bins for cameras, and another for gear. Diving operations are conducted from two large pangas (tenders), easily boarded from the dive deck.
A great week aboard Humboldt Explorer is about more than the diving. From preparing gear on the dive deck to sharing stories over dinner, the crew takes pride in making guests feel welcome and well cared for. It’s the kind of personal service that guests remember long after they’ve returned home.
