Why PADI Sidemount Diver Specialty?

A sidemount configuration (scuba tanks alongside of the diver) offers more flexibility and better steamlining options. Learn about the many benefits of diving with a sidemount configuration.


What do I need to start?

Divers must be Open Water certified and 15 or older.


What will you learn?

Along with learning about the many benefits of diving with a sidemount configuration, during one confined water and three open water scuba dives you’ll learn how to:

  • Properly assemble and configure sidemount scuba diving equipment.
  • Trim your weight system and sidemount gear so you’re perfectly balanced in the water.
  • Manage gas by switching second stages as planned, if wearing two cylinders.
  • Respond correctly to potential problems when sidemount diving.

  • July 15, 6 - 10pm Class
  • July 18, 8am - 12pm Class
  • July 18, 1 - 5pm Pool
  • July 19, 1 - 5pm Pool
  • July 25: Lake Pleasant for certification dives.

Personal Gear:

Sidemount BCD and harness, 

Two tanks with regulators and SPGs with at least one regulator on a long (recommended 5-7ft) hose and one with a low pressue inflator hose to supply BCD (available for rent).

REQUIRED FORM(S):

A Continued Education form (10038) and Diver Medical Questionnaire (10346) are required once a year.

The year is defined by the date of the last PADI instructional class you enrolled. Everyone is required to submit this form.

A Self Reliant Diver form (10037) is also required before starting the course.
