Tanks & Weights:
- Tanks are included for boat & training dives
- Students requiring a Friday dive—also included.
- Students are responsible to pickup, transport and return.
- Check with your instructor for logistics.
- Divers wishing to make a Friday afternoon/night dive are responsible for getting and paying for their own tanks at Gary’s. You are also responsible for the return of the tank--usually at the next morning at the dock.
- Each boat excursion includes 2 tanks.
- YOU MUST BRING WEIGHTS!*.
*We have an understanding with Gary’s that we will not be using their weights.
We use soft, they use hard.
Bring personal tanks at your own risk. They now require paperwork that is not easy to obtain, and may not be allowed past the federal check point.
* If you don’t own weights, remember to rent them.
Included in this Trip:
•Dive Instructors for Open Water, Advanced Open Water, and/or Specialty Certifications.
•Hotel accommodations.
•Lunch is served on the boat.
(You are responsible for all other meals.)
We do not provide divemasters/guides for divers who are not students.
If you require one, discuss with the Dive Shop.
The dive boat may offer one for a fee. Ask before including yourself with any group.
Sample Schedule:
Instructor defines the schedule
- 2:00pm - hotel check-in
- 2:30pm - meet in hotel lobby for afternoon dive
- 2:45pm - Gary’s for paperwork and pickup tanks
- 3:00 - 3:30pm - be at dive site for Open Water Dive 1
- 5:00 - 5:30pm – be done with afternoon dive
- Dinner and curfew are up to you.

- 6:30am - be at the dock.
- 7:00am - Gary’s boat departs—promptly.
- 2:00pm - Return to dock.
- Usually a group dinner.
Limit alcohol consumption. Any signs of intoxication/hangover will result in not being allowed on the boat Saturday/Sunday.
Gary Defines this schedule
- 6:30am - be at the dock.
- 7:00am - Gary’s boat departs—promptly.
- 12:30pm - Return to dock.
- 1:00pm - Hotel check-out after a quick shower.
Upon returning to hotel it is best to reactivate your room card.
- 1:30-2:00pm
Gas up and head back. There is no caravan back. Make arrangements with the group if you are not comfortable returning by yourself.
What to Bring:
Reference the Checklist and back of the map hand out.
Incidentals:
- Proof of SCUBA certification is required.
- Snorkelers are welcome on the boat on a space available basis only (see store for details).
- Dive sites are selected with weather and safety in mind. Safety always comes first.
- Gary’s boat captain chooses dive site locations.
- Going to the island is not always possible.
- At least one parent/guardian must be at the beach or on the boat with any and all minors in their care. Even if you are not diving, you must pay rider/snorkelerfare.
- TIP THE BOAT STAFF--Usually $10 U.S./tank. It is best to tip at the end of each day as the same crew might not be on the boat the following day(s).
Note:
Because of travel, weather, and other events beyond the control of staff, schedules must be somewhat flexible. It is your responsibility to stay in contact with the Dive Shop Staff and/or instructors for the location and times for the Friday Open Water dive, and all other scheduling.
