Passports

Passports are Required

• Travel south of Nogales Mexico requires a valid passport by the Mexican government.

• The US border agents may allow other forms of I.D. for reentry, but Mexico requires a passport to gain entry.

• International Students: Make sure you take ALL visa paperwork for reentry into the U.S.

Your passport can not expire before:

06 December 2026

The Forma Migratoria Múltiple (FMM)

Required!

• Mexico does no require a "visa", but does require a "Mexican Tourist Card".

• Everyone must stop at "21k" and fill out a Multiple Migration Form (FMM).

• Any stay under 7 days is free.

• Any stay over requires a 180 a fee of about $50 U.S.

On your way out of Mexico, you are required to return the FMM portion that is handed to you at check in.

Mexican Auto Insurance

If you drive your vehicle into Mexico, GET IT!

• Usually costs less than $100US for a weekend.

• Check the following:

• Your personal auto insurance company

• AAA

• Sanborn's Mexico Auto Insurance

• Geico

Acquire the insurance before the trip. Getting it at the border will take a long time and the caravan can not wait.

Dive Insurance

• Dive insurance is not mandatory but is highly recommended.

• Open Water Students:

If you filled out the DAN form during your class, you have coverage up to the last dive as an Open Water student. Once you earn certification the coverage ceases.

Money

You'll need some.

• Mexico does not accept US currency.

• You will need Pesos for tolls and some gas stations. Most gas stations accept credit cards.

• You can exchange dollars for pesos at:

• Wells Fargo or Chase -- you will need to call and order them.

• An exchange booth near the Circle-K in Nogales. (Not always open at 7:00 a.m.)

• Exchange center across the street from Circle-K.

• At 21k. (Not always open and may not have a lot to exchange.)
