About Me: I became a certified diver when asked to be on staff with the 2010 BSA Scout National Jamboree Scuba Diving program. In 2011, I became a Divemaster, 2012 became a Dive Instructor, MSDT Instructor, Specialty Instructor and in 2021 became an IDC Staff Instructor. In 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023 I received the PADI Elite Instructor Awards.
As a Scout leader I have served on the Scuba staff in 2010 and as a pool lead scuba instructor for the 2013 and 2017 National Jamboree and the 2019 World Jamboree. I promote and serve as The Dive Shop’s Scouting Representative, promoting Scouts to earn their Discover Scuba Diving Award and Scuba Diving Merit Badge. For the last 14 years I have volunteered as a diver with Pima County Search and Recovery Dive Team.
When not teaching scuba diving, I work as a mechanical designer and graphic artist and do custom embroidery and graphic printing. I graduated with a Master’s Degree in Theatrical Design and Technical Direction from the University of Arizona and a PhD from Breyer State University in Educational Experiential Teaching.
Favorite Dive Destination: My passion is diving on wrecks and just got back from diving in Palau and Truk Lagoon in Jan. Some of my other favorite locations are the Yucatan Cenotes in the Riviera Maya, DPV diving around Molokini and through the lava tunnels in Hawaii, diving on the U352, Sculpture Park in Grenada and St. Croix.
Favorite Marine Animal: Sea Turtles and Sharks
Favorite Dive Gear: Some of my favorite gear is the OTS Full-Face Mask and Hollis and DUI Drysuits. I use an Eno Steel dive computer and a Hollis back inflate BCD and just bought a new Oceanic Biolite BCD for traveling. My Scuba Pro split fins are my favorite fins.
